Assistant Principals

Dr. Smith

Dr. Danny Smith,

Assistant Principal

Greetings!

It is with great honor that I have an opportunity to serve the Griffin-Spalding community. I began my educational journey at Fort Valley State University (Go Wildcats), where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. I later attended Georgia State University, where I earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership. My educational journey concluded at Capella University, where I earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I began my educational career at North Clayton High School (Clayton County) where I taught mathematics and coached football. After leaving North Clayton, I taught mathematics and coached football, wrestling, and track and field at Creekside High School (Fulton County), for several years.  Later, I became a mathematics instructional coach and Title I Support Specialist for Fulton County Schools.  Most recently, I served as an Assistant Principal at Herman J. Russell West End Academy (Atlanta Public Schools).

I  have a son, Danny, Jr., whom I enjoy spending time with and helping him achieve lifelong success.

I look forward to serving the community in which I reside and guiding students to reach their goals as we work together to have a dynamic year.

Genuinely,

Danny Smith, Ph.D.

Mrs. Courtney Wright,

Assistant Principal

Welcome!

I am Courtney Wright and I am immensely honored to have served the Griffin-Spalding community for the past 11 years. I began my educational career in 2013 as an eager seventh grade English teacher in room 709 right here at Carver Road Middle School. As I have matriculated through various leadership roles at Carver, I am ecstatic to begin my 2nd year as Assistant Principal for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

I am a proud alumna of Fort Valley State University where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education, and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Later, I obtained a Master of Education degree in Middle Grades Education from Walden University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership at Thomas University. I currently hold an Educational Leadership Tier I certification from The University of West Georgia. My husband and I are both administrators, and have two beautiful children.

In my role as Assistant Principal, I am dedicated to collaborating with our outstanding team of educators, staff, students, and parents to ensure our school remains a place where innovation blossoms, knowledge is cultivated, and personal growth is celebrated.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to make this school year a remarkable and successful one!

With Eagle Pride,

Mrs. Courtney V. Wright, Ed.S.
