Welcome to Carver Road Middle School! I am thrilled to begin my 24th year in education as principal of Eagle Nation! I am fortunate to have teaching and leadership experience in middle and high school settings.
I have served Monroe County Schools as a teacher, graduation coach, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. I have served as a high school administrator for the past 13 years. I was selected as a middle school Teacher of the Year and as a finalist for the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP) Assistant Principal of the Year. I received my bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College and State University, my master’s in Curriculum and Technology from the University of Phoenix, and my specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University.
Here at Carver Road Middle School, we want our Eagles to LEAD! We are committed to upholding our district’s mission to empower each student to graduate college and career ready. We plan to accomplish this by providing a quality educational experience daily. Our goal is for students to be fully engaged in reading, writing, speaking, and solving grade-level tasks.
We are an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. This means that we will emphasize the development of critical thinking skills through specific instructional strategies. We are also proud to foster leadership opportunities through Leader in Me.
We want to build strong partnerships within our school community. Parents, we need your support and active participation in order for your child to be successful! Attendance matters! Please have your child at school on time daily. Check grades through the Infinite Campus portal often. Ask your child what he/she learned today. Get your child to spend a few minutes reading daily outside of school. Readers become leaders!
We also welcome parent and community volunteers. There are multiple ways to get involved. Please follow this link to learn more about the volunteer process: https://www.gscs.org/o/gscss/page/volunteer
Parents, thank you for allowing us to serve as your child’s educators. We look forward to partnering with you during your child’s middle school journey. Go Eagles!!
Sincerely,
Sarah Alford
